What is forró
Forró is a genre of Brazilian music and dance which originated in the northeast of Brazil. Forró comprises of a number of different rhythms such as baião, Forró, Xaxado, Maracatu, Xote, Arrasta-pé and Coco. Forró trios traditionally play an accordion, zabumba (bass drum) and a metal triangle and the lyrics are often full of nostalgia for the sertao (arid countryside of the northeast of Brazil), rain, home or lost love. The dance is a partner dance with similarities to samba-rock, lambada and salsa.
